Obituary-Hilma Oline Iwanciwski (nee Holt)

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, Hilma Iwanciwski, on September 20, 2026, after a short battle with cancer.
Hilma was born on December 21, 1933, in a log house her dad built on Section 21, Township 60, Range 16, north of Meadow Lake, Saskatchewan.
She attended Dunfield School for Grades 1 to 8. There was one teacher, eight grades, and 45 students.
She worked in Meadow Lake as a waitress at the Hub Cafe, along with her sister, Sonja.
Hilma moved to Edmonton, where she married Frank Poirier. They had two children, Theresa and Arnold (Arnie). They later moved to Edson and Calgary.
Hilma then moved to Vancouver, where she married Ray Weisser and welcomed their daughter, Cindy. They moved back to Edson, where Ray was employed.
She was later married to Fred Iwanciwski and eventually split her time between Calgary and Edson, cherishing the moments she spent visiting her relatives near Calgary.
Once Hilma moved away from home, she spent her working years cleaning houses and babysitting. She also enjoyed gardening, knitting, crocheting, and sewing children's clothes. She spent many years crocheting Barbie clothes for her family. She especially enjoyed spending as much time as she could doing things with her family, and especially enjoyed spending time gardening with Cindy Weisser. Hilma also loved to play her favorite games on her iPad and enjoyed nightly phone and FaceTime calls.
Hilma was predeceased by her parents, Hans and Karen Holt; her siblings, Agnar, Judith, Evelyn, Orpha, Marie, Sonja, Ruth, and Eric; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Theresa (Rick) Peplow, Arnold (Arnie) Poirier, and Cindy Weisser, as well as three granddaughters and their families. She is also survived by her brother, Hans Holt; her sisters, Kathy Bale and Karren Griffiths; and many nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Hilma's memory to the charity of your choice or to:
